Friuli has a two-thousand-year-long tradition in wine growing. Indeed, already in Roman times, these lands where planted with vines and devoted to winemaking. The geography of the region definitely contributed to such development, with its variety of landscapes, the position being well-protected by the Alps and the salty sea breeze blowing from the Adriatic Sea.
In Risano, the pebbly, alluvial soils of the plain bring minerality to the wines, in particular to the whites, which are fresh and balanced, and never too firm. The climate also contributes to the quality of the wine: warm, airy summers and a proper amount of rain.
The slopes of our hill in the Collio Goriziano, which is naturally formed in the shape of an amphitheater, yields particularly high quality grapes, also enhanced by the soil composed of marl of Eocene origin, and by the excellent exposure to the sunlight. It is no coincidence that the wines from this hill are the very appreciated by the most demanding consumers.
